Digital Design Engineer 

The Digital/ embedded Design Engineers will leverage their creative design and development expertise to help develop innovative solutions for the application of space systems technologies. You will work in small collaborative groups through all stages of the launch vehicle and spacecraft design, including conceptual flight computer and ground support control system architecture, preliminary design, detailed design, fabrication and test procedure writing and liaison manufacturing and test support.  You will have full ownership of your project from the initial concept through all phases of the design, analysis, manufacturing, and final integration of your module(s) and systems through Launch and on-orbit support,

  

Minimum Requirements and Responsibilities:

Design, analyze, implement, troubleshoot, optimize and test of digital and embedded computing/signal processing for flight hardware and ground equipment utilizing PowerPC, CorIQ, FPGA, ASIC, SOM and ARM based Microcontrollers and Computers.

Digital system and component design, including core analysis, IP development, RTL/VHDL coding, analysis and simulation.

Competent in end-to-end definition, requirement generation, block diagram design, component selection and evaluation, detailed schematic design, board layout and routing, electrical and VHDL/MATLAB simulation and analysis, breadboarding, testing and troubleshooting of system on module computers and embedded processors.

Fluency and competency in C, C++ languages in addition to Linux and RTOS operating systems

Fully fluent and competent in usage of digital signal processing test equipment, such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, lab test equipment etc.

Competent and fluent in MATLAB (or Maple, Mathematica), Verilog, and other HDL

Experienced in design, development and implementation of DSP based embedded systems, single board computers, I/O and peripheral development

Experienced in design and development of local communication protocols, CAN, 1553, 1394, etc.

Knowledge of design and development of control systems such as those used in robotics and guidance and navigation is highly desirable

  

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) or Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred

Minimum of 2 years of industry Digital circuit and system design and development is required. Candidate must demonstrate complete proficiency in digital and computer hardware design and development, analysis and simulation in addition to troubleshooting and test of digital and computer hardware experience.
